Chess King is the perfect platform for your complete Chess960 training, analyzing, and playing! We are sure Fischer would have recommended it. The debate on the issue of draws in chess was never so intense until lately. Give it to former world Chess Champion Bobby Fischer for having foreseen it all. He recommended Chess960 (or Fischer Random Chess). It was introduced in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in June 1996. The game employs the same board and pieces as standard chess, but the starting position of the pieces along the players’ first rank is randomized. The random setup makes the prospect of obtaining an advantage through the memorization of opening lines impracticable, compelling players to rely instead on their talent and creativity.
Randomizing the main pieces had long been known as Shuffle Chess, but Chess960 introduced new rules preserving full castling options in all starting positions, resulting in 960 unique positions. To maintain the character of standard chess, a player’s bishops start on opposite-color squares, and the king starts on a square between the rooks.
Online chess servers already run Chess960 tourneys and games. Chess King has a fantastic Chess960 training and playing option with the world’s strongest chess engine Houdini. Check out this video tutorial by Steve Lopez.

Hello everyone, It is time to wish everyone Happy Thanksgiving so let's do it with a lovely chess painting by the Sketchpad Warrior.
Artist Kristopher writes, on his blog: Here's a blast from the past, and one that relates to Thanksgiving. This is an oil painting entitled, "The Chess Game," and depicts several Marines sitting around playing chess and reading, passing the time.
"It's based on a sketch and photos I took at an outpost on Route Michigan in Al Anbar Province on Thanksgiving Day, 2006. The Marines depicted were engineers who had spent their day on a route clearing mission (making sure there were no IEDs on the road)-- they certainly had earned some down time.
"I enjoyed watching these Marines relax, and we spent a few moments chatting about Thanksgiving. As the "old man" in the room, I asked the young men to go around the room and mention something they were thankful for, and they obliged. Each expressed thanks for home, family and friends-- and to be alive, of course.
"It was a bit of home there in an outpost.
"I was thankful to God that America still produces young people like these, willing to serve wherever called. I am still thankful for that today."

The game is a sharp Sicilian Defence, Scheveningen Variation. GM Kosteniuk is better prepared, attacks the black king, sacrifices two pieces and forces black to resign already on the 26th move.
