Top seed Aleksandrov wins Mayor's Chess Cup

Hi everyone,

The latest chess news from Mumbai is that top seed Aleksej Aleksandrov of Belarus has won the 4th Mayor's Cup International Chess Tournament. He went into the last round with a full-point lead and a quick draw with India's Deep Sengupta in the 11th and final round on Saturday gave him the top prize. 

Aleksej Aleksandrov 
GM Martyn Kravtsiv of Ukraine, seeded second, also needed just a draw for a clear second and he got that by beating Ziaur Rehman of Bangladesh in just 28 moves. 

The top final standings:

1 GM Aleksej Aleksandrov (2618, BLR) 9.5 points;
2 GM Martyn Kravtsiv (2583, UKR) 9;
3. Swayams Mishra (2354, IND) 8.5;
4. GM Neelotpal Das (2458, IND) 8.5;

    Good show by Indians also. Our chess is getting stronger by the day. Hope to see Koneru win world title also soon. And then she can conveniently give it back to my favourite all-time sweetest Chess Queen.
