Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hello everyone,

Here is a nice chess news report about a little someone trying to make a big difference in the children's chess world. It's the simul of love and joy.

WFM Danitza F. Vázquez Maccarini held a chess simul with the children of the Hogar San José de la Montaña in Avenida Luis Vigoreaux, Villa Caparra, Guaynabo.

The Hogar San José de la Montaña was founded in 1962. it has helped Puerto Rican children over the years, with a second home that provides structure, stability, peace and joy to their lives. It is a non-profit organisation that houses 21 girls from 4 to 14 years, from families in crisis, dysfunctional and / or separated with serious economic problems.

Danitza is considered a great inspiration for girls in Puerto Rico. She is only 11 and loved to give the gift of chess to these girls of the Home. At present, the Guaynabo Chess Club takes free chess lessons with the girls at the Home.

The big surprise of the simul night was when at the conclusion, Danitza gave away stuffed toys to the best three players and all the participants got books, school supplies and new shoes.

Oh, we also have a video of the event!
