Karen Asrian Memorial Chess Tournament begins Oct 4

Hello Everyone,

Are you ready to play the 3rd Karen Asrian Memorial being organized by the Armenian Chess Federation from October 4-14, 2010? It will be held in the beautiful resort town of Jermuk in Armenia.

It will be a 9-round Swiss Chess Tournament and is being held in memory of Karen Asrian.

Karen Asrian (24 April 1980 – 9 June 2008) was an Armenian Grandmaster who was tied to be the fourth highest rated player in Armenia according to the October 2006 FIDE rating list. He won the Armenian Chess Championship in 1999, 2007 and 2008 apart from the Dubai 2001 and Tigran Petrosian Memorial (2004) tournaments.

In 2006, Asrian he won the Chess Olympiad in Turin, playing third board on the Armenian team. He passed away on 9 June 2008.
