St Petersburg Chess Rapid Cup: Maxim Matlakov, Anastasia Bodnaruk Winners

Grandmasters Maxim Matlakov and Anastasia Bodnaruk are the winners of the St. Petersburg Rapid Cup final, which was held on 28-29th September at the Overtime Chess Club. After the preliminary qualification earlier this month, 32 men and 16 women gathered this weekend for the final knockout event. GM Maxim Matlakov beat GM Daniil Linchevski 1,5-0,5 in the final match to claim the Cup in men’s section. The women’s final had an exciting finish when Anastasia Bodnaruk won the Armageddon game against Dina Belenkaya to take the top prize in this section. (www.chessdom.com)
