French Chess Fed Grand Prix Second Stage on April 28, 29

Hi everyone,

Some interesting chess news for everyone interested in playing in France. The second stage of the Chess Grand Prix 2012 hosted by the French Chess Federation would be taking place on April 28 and 29. The venue would be the building of 'Grand Nancy', 22-24 Viaduc Kennedy, 54000 NANCY (at 200 meters from the Nancy-railway station). 


Open to any category of players, young or adults, beginners to Grandmasters! There would be nine rapid games of 15 minutes (+3 seconds per move) per player. Final checking (obligatory) until 1:30pm. Round one at 2pm. Prize giving ceremony at about 8:30/9:00 pm. The best 7 players are qualified for the final matches of the Sunday.

Only by email to philippe.chr@free.fr
Please give your full name, elo, fide elo (or national by default) and email. Payment of the entry fee between 11am and 1:30pm at the tournament hall (please prepare the exact amount).

Entry Fee:
* Free for GM, IM, WGM, WIM (if registration by email) and no other invitation condition.
* 14 € for players over 20 years old.
* 7€ for players under 20 years old.

27 prizes will be given on Saturday evening:
Three best women: 400 € 250 € 150 €
Three best juniors (under 20 y.o): 150 € 100 € 50 €
Three best Veteran (over 60 y.o): 150 € 100 € 50 €
Three best Elo under 2400: 150 € 100 € 50 €
Three best Elo under 2200: 150 € 100 € 50 €
Three best Elo under 2000: 150 € 100 € 50 €
Three best Elo under 1800: 150 € 100 € 50 €
Three best Elo under 1600: 150 € 100 € 50 €
Three best Elo under 1400: 150 € 100 € 50 €

Sunday 29 April 2012 from 10:30am – Final Matches “Cup System”

With the 7 qualified players from Saturday open
+ 1 player “wild card”: GM Christian Bauer, elo 2679, french number 4.

2 rapid games 15min+3 sec per match, and then if necessary 2 blitz games 3min+2sec.

Free entry. Live games broadcasting on giant screen in the tournament hall, and on internet on French federation website.

Quarterfinal at 10:30am
Semi-final at 2pm
Final at 4pm and final ceremony at the end of the match.

8 prizes will be given after the final :
4 Quarter-finalist: 700 €
2 Semi -finalist: 1 250 €
1 Looser in Final: 2 500 €
1 Winner: 4 000 €
