Smyslov's magical pawn sac to feature in CEWN chess newsletter

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2012

Hi everyone,

We have an interesting update about the 4th edition of the Chess Evolution Weekly Newsletter (CEWN). A rare game of chess legend Vasily Smyslov will be featured in the issue. A large part of the edition will be dedicated to the World Chess Champion from 1957 to 1958 and Candidate for the World Chess Championship on eight occasions (1948, 1950, 1953, 1956, 1959, 1965, 1983, and 1985).

The game of the 7th World Champion shows his complete understanding of all tactical elements of chess. With a nice pawn sacrifice Smyslov takes the initiative, leaves the opponent’s king in the center and launches a devastating attack against it.

More from the 4th edition of CEWN

The 4th edition of CEWN continues the tradition of following the best games from the past week with detailed analysis. On the 25 pages of quality chess material you can find the most exciting encounters from the Bundesliga so far (including the game of Anand), the amazing finish of Reykjavik Open with Caruana and Yifan Hou, and the key encounter from the EIWCC final between Gunina and Muzychuk.

Besides the fantastic game of Vasily Smyslov, there is a special endgame study and a large puzzles section. The edition as usual is coming in pdf and pgn directly to your email address.

The 4th edition will be published according the standard schedule, CEWN is sent to the chess fans every Friday evening. GM Naiditsch and GM Balogh are authors of CEWN

How to subscribe to CEWN
Note: for those who purchase 1 edition, this will be the pdf/pgn publication of 9th March or any other of your choice, as edition 1 is for free download. The same way the 4 editions subscriptions will be for issues 1-5.
