6th Annual Philadelphia Chess Open begins April 4

Hi everyone,

The 6th Annual Philadelphia Open will take place over the Easter week from April 4-8, 2012, at the upscale, luxury Loews Philadelphia Hotel, rated Four Diamonds by AAA, 1200 Market Street, Philadelphia. The event has a $80,000 projected prize fund with $60,000 guaranteed.

 


The event has 8 sections: Open, Under 2200, Under 2000, Under 1800, Under 1600, Under 1400, Under 1200 and Under 1000.

The Open Section is a 9 round Swiss tournament with GM and IM norm opportunities. The Open Section will be played over a 5-day schedule.

The Under 2200-Under 1200 sections are 7 round Swiss tournaments having 4-day, 3-day and 2-day schedules to play in.

The Under 1000 section is a 7 round Swiss tournament that will be held over 2-days, April 7-8.

Prizes:
Open Section: $7000-4000-2000-1000-800-700-600-500-400-400, clear or tiebreak first $200 bonus, FIDE Under 2400/Unr $2000-1000. FIDE rated, GM & IM norms possible.
Under 2200 Section: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-300-300-300.
Under 2000 Section: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-300-300-300, Unrated limit $2000.
Under 1800 Section: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-300-300-300, Unrated limit $1600.
Under 1600 Section: $4000-2000-1000-700-500-400-300-200-200-200, Unrated limit $1200.
Under 1400 Section: $4000-2000-1000-700-500-400-300-200-200-200, Unrated limit $800.
Under 1200 Section: $1500-800-500-300-200-200-200-100-100-100, Unrated limit $400.
Under 1000 Section: $400-200-100, Unrated limit $200, trophies to first 5, top U800, U600, U400, Unrated.

The entry fees for the Open Section range from 150 USD (GMs, IMs, WGMs; deducted from prize) to 375 USD for the US players rated U2200 FIDE.
