Kids and Kasparov - Super fun

Chess News and Chess Trivia Blog (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2010

Hello Everyone,

Wonder what's it like to play against the mighty Gary Kasparov? Here is what some kids say:

Sam De Graeve - I was real proud that I was the last to stay on against Nigel Short and be selected to play against Gary Kasparov. I found the press attention tricky and was very nervous. It was super exciting to play against Kasparov. But later I was not nervous. I now have a very nice photo of myself and Kasparov.

Casper Ombelet - The tournament was lots of fun and also I have never played against such great players. It was amazing.

Lenaerts Lennert - I was truly thrilled to be chosen to play against former world champion Gary Kasparov. It was a dream come true! The evening itself was fantastic all arranged and organized. We were all well received and supported. Of course I was really a bit nervous and made some mistakes in the beginning ... After the game I was announced as the guy who gave Kasparov a headache! And Kasparov said on stage "A good fight".

Well these kids got to play in a special event organized by Your Next Move for the fourth time, promoting chess in schools and its status as a sport, Garry Kasparov played a simul against top Belgium CEOs, politicians and a selection of children. The event was broadcast online with live and lively commentary by GM Nigel Short and IM Almira Skripchenko.

You can check the official website here of Your Next Move and read a real sweet report on the event with great photos of Gary Kasparov at www.chessbase.com in English.

    Hmmm,
Your too young to remember the Munster's, but Herman Munster would treat himself for a headache, by clamping on this enormous Wood Vice, I always suspected it would be rather like that ... ;)

Actually it's quite cool and I suspect those littl'ns will have a memory for a lifetime, I know I would keep the score to that game someplace special. BB.
