Calvia Chess Festival begins on October 9

Hello Everyone,

Here is news about the nice 7th Calvia Chess Festival that has become quite popular over the years. They are now holding it for the seventh time from October 9 to 17.

Calvià is a municipality on the island of Majorca, part of the Spanish autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. It is located in the southwestern part of the island of Majorca, between the Serra de Tramuntana and the Serra de Na Burguesa.

The festival has become particularly famous for its Amateur International Open and U16 Rapid & Blitz. About 97 players have already registered for the Amateur Open.

VII Amateur International Open

* 9 round Swiss. 90 minutes + 30 seconds after each move. Valid for FIDE rating
* Rounds 1 to 7 at 20:30h, round 8 at 15h, round 9 at 10h
* Festival venue: Sala Palmanova- C/ Na Boira 2 – Palmanova (Calvià)
* Closing ceremony: Sunday October 17th at 15h.
* Eligibility: players <>
* 3 half point bye are allowed till the 7th round if requested before the start of the previous round.

Prize fund is 6.800€ + 1.200€ inspecial prizes, with 1.500,00 € reserved for the winner.
