Little chess girls from Chile

Alexandra Kosteniuk's Chess News & Trivia (c) 2010

Hello Everyone,

We would like to share these lovely photos of chess girls from Chile. There used to be no chess in Vina del Mar. But now there's a chess school with 26 girls enrolled in a chess class of 5-15-year-olds!

Manuel Aguirre B. is happy to post their news online and send it to us.

Indeed, it is an encouraging beginning since there are hardly any girls playing chess and little chess in colleges.

Here are some general photos of the Vina del Mar Chess Club and of course don't miss their student Javiera Aguirre playing in a simul and all too happy to shake hands with the 13th World Champion Gary Kasparov who visited Chile some time back.

Girls, keep up the chess!

It is so great to see young children play chess and encouraged to do so. Whether they take up chess professionally or not, it doesn't matter. Chess is a foundation for the rest of their life. I would like to congratulate the Chess Queen and World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk for doing so much for chess and understanding her responsibility as a true champion. We love reading all you do for chess.

I'm so proud of my fellow countrywoman here in Chile for these past events and present work for chess. It was great having our GM Ivan Morovic and Garry Kasparov in these instances. Go ahead for chess chileans girls and boys! Thank you very much Alexandra for your passion and support, here in Chile i know we are a lot who love you.
    Gretings.
