Hou Yifan wins second women's chess grand prix 2011/12 in Shenzhen

More chess news coming in from China - Shenzhen to be precise. Hou Yifan won the 11th round and the Women's Chess Grand Prix on Monday with a nice score of 8 points. All the games were drawn in the last round except Viktorija Cmilyte beating Zhu Chen and Munguntuul Batkhuyag beating Yildiz Betul Cemre.
Hou Yifan drew her last-round game with Elina Danielian for a clear first. She notched up and fixed a first place in the tournament with five wins and six draws. Slovenian player Anna Muzychuk also drew with Ju Wenjun to take the second spot. Tan Zhongyi drew with Ruan Lufei to share the third place with Wenjun.

The results of the Round 9 at the Shenzhen Women's Chess Grand Prix saw Tan Zhongyi draw with Zhu Chen, Cmilyte Viktorija lose to Anna Muzychuk, Ruan Lufei lose to Hou Yifan, Ju Wenjun beat Zhao Xue, Elina Danielian draw with Yildiz Betul Cemre and Ekaterina Kovalevskaya draw with Munguntuul Batkhuyag.
In Round 10 Zhu Chen lost to Munguntuul Batkhuyag, Yildiz Betul Cemre drew with Ekaterina Kovalevskaya, Zhao Xue lost to Elina Danielian, Hou Yifan drew with Ju Wenjun, Anna Muzychuk drew with Ruan Lufei and Tan Zhongyi beat Viktorija Cmilyte.
The standings after Round 10 are as follows:

The chess news from China is that the talented women's world chess champion Hou Yifan has taken sole lead in the Shenzhen Women's Chess Grand Prix 2011. In the eighth round, she beat Viktorija Cmilyte. Now, Yifan has 6 points after eight rounds. Following close behind is Zhao Xue with 5.5 points, Anna Muzychuk and Ruan Lufei with 5 points each, Ju Wenjun, Tan Zhongyi with 4.5 points each, Zhu Chen on 4, Cmilyte on 3.5, Elina Danielian and Munguntuul Batkhuyag on 3 points each. Ekaterina Kovalevskaya has 2.5 points while Yildiz Betul Cemre has 1.5 points.

The latest chess news from Shenzhen where the second of the Women's Chess Grand Prix is currently on is that Hou Yifan and Ruan Lufei have shot into joint lead after the seventh round. In the previous round we have five players in joint lead. But it were Yifan and Lufei who alone scored wins in the seventh round to get ahead.
Can you identify this player? Easy!
Hou Yifan won over Tan Zhongyi while Ruan Lufei beat Yildiz Betul Cemre. All the other games were drawn. You can find more details at the official website.
The standings after Round 7 have Yifan and Lufei in lead with 5 points each. Following right behind with 4.5 points are Anna Muzychuk and Zhao Xue. On four points is Tan Zhongyi. The chess news update from China is that now, there is a three-way tie for the lead at the Shenzhen Women's Chess Grand Prix after four rounds!
GMs Hou Yifan, Zhao Xue and IM Anna Muzychuk are sharing the lead with 3 points each. Four players are at 2.5 each - Cmilyte, Lufei, Wenjun and Zhongyi.
In the fourth round, Zhu Chen lost to Ju Wenjun, Elina Danielian lost to Ruan Lufei and Yildiz Betul Cemre lost to Anna Muzychuk. The other games were drawn: Ekaterina Kovalevskaya-Viktorija Cmilyte, Batkhuyag-Tan Zhongyi, Zhao Xue-Hou Yifan.
The second event in the FIDE Women Grand Prix 2011-2012 series is taking place at the Wuzhou Hotel in Shenzhen, China. The participants of the event include current Women's World Chess Champion Hou Yifan and former World Champion Zhu Chen. Former World Champion Xu Yuhua is a technical adviser. The winner of the tournament will receive 6,500 euros out of a prize fund of 40,000 euros. The overall winner of the Women's Grand Prix will win a further 15,000 Euros at the end of the series. Players can only offer draws through the chief arbiter in special cases and the 'zero tolerance' rule is also in effect, which require chess players to be seated at their boards when the games are scheduled to start.
