GM Savic Miodrag, IM Saric Sinisa Win 5th Chess Vojvodina
Hello chess blog friends, here's latest chess tournament news via FIDE: GM Savic Miodrag R SRB 2522 and IM Saric Sinisa SRB 2400 have won the joint first place with 7,5 points each at the 5th International Chess Championship of Vojvodina took place 12-18th July at the Master Centar in Novi Sad, Serbia. The chess event was organised by the Vojvodina Chess Federation and Serbia Chess Federation.
FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited the playing hall and gave a speech before the start of the 8th round. A total of 200 players from 17 federations competed in the 9-round Swiss Open. GM Atalik Suat TUR 2550, IM Azaladze Shota GEO 2499, GM Drazic Sinisa SRB 2430 and IM Kadric Denis BIH 2494 shared the third place with 7 points each.
On 6,5 points were GM Tosic Miroslav SRB 2427, FM Liou Yian USA 2387, IM Arsovic Zoran SRB 2433, FM Burovic Ismet BIH 2366, FM Napoli Nicolo ITA 2267, IM Nestorovic Nikola SRB 2439, IM Nestorovic Dejan SRB 2408, Erden Kadir TUR 2181, GM Lajthajm Borko SRB 2526 and FM Pantelic Sasa SRB 2312.

19-Year-Old Aleksandar Indjic is Serbia Chess Champion 2014
Hello everyone,
The latest chess tournament news via FIDE is that 19-year-old Grandmaster Aleksandar Indjic is the new Serbian chess champion for men. He was the sole winner of the prestigious 12-player round robin tournament and deservedly got the top prize of 1000 EU. Collecting 7,5/11, Indjic left the nearest opponent half a point behind. GM Milos Perunovic became second with 7 points, while GM Nikola Sedlak took the bronze with 6,5 points.
The event took place from 7th to 17th April, 2014, at Hotel Patria, in Subotica, Serbia.

European Women's Chess Championship 2013 Begins in Belgrade

The European Women's Chess Championship 2013 is running in Belgrade, Serbia from July 22-August 4 with Valentina Gunina of Russia as the defending champion. The European Individual Women’s Championship was held for the first time in 2000, in Batumi, Georgia, city famous for many important chess events, as a 32-player knockout event. That year Natalia Zhukova defeated Ekatarina Kovalevskaya in the final with the result 2.5-1.5. Since 2001 the Tournament has had a Swiss system format, and apart from a short switch to a 12-round schedule in 2004-2005, was played with 11-round schedule. Serbia Chess 2013: Boban Bogosavljevic is National Champion

Hi everyone,
Grandmaster Boban Bogosavljevic became the new Serbian Champion after the convincing victory at the event held in Vrnjacka Banja on 15-27th April. Bogosavljevic, who celebrated 25th birthday during the final rounds, conceded only four draws to complete the Championship with 10/12 points, leaving the second placed IM Aleksandar Indjic full two points behind. Bogosavljevic earned 38 elo points.
The 17-years old Aleksandar Indjic also has a reason to celebrate as he scored his third GM norm and completed all title requirements in only seven months. Indjic thus became the youngest Serbian Grandmaster ever, according to a Chessdom report.
