The latest chess news via Fide is that the Metropolitan Chess, Inc. hosted an International Master norm round robin tournament from October 10 to October 14, 2012. The tournament was sponsored by California Market Center, Fashion Business, Inc, Chess.com, MonRoi, LawyerFy, the Law Offices of Steinfl & Bruno, EventForte Inc, and Betty Bottom Showroom.
This tournament was the 22nd in its series and was held in Suite C855 of the California Market Center on 110 East 9th Street, Los Angeles 90079. The tournament was organized by Ankit Gupta, FA, IO. The participants included: IM Zhanibek Amanov (KAZ), IM Larry Remlinger (USA), IM Andranik Matikozyan (ARM), FM Konstantin Kavutskiy (USA), FM Michael Casella (USA), FM Mark Duckworth (USA), Samuel Sevian (USA), Garush Manukyan (ARM), Madiyar Amerkeshev (KAZ) and Robert Akopian (USA).
The tournament was a 10 player round-robin (all play all), with rounds scheduled as follows – 10th: 7:00 PM, 11th: 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM, 12th: 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM, 13th: 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM, 14th: 10:00 AM & 4:00 PM.
The tournament had no norms achieved, though Samuel Sevian was closest out of the norm contenders. International Master Andranik Matikozyan fresh off a tournament victory at the recently concluded Los Angeles Open swept through the field with a score of 7.0 out of 9.0. This tournament was the 21st in its series and was held in the Malibu Room of the Radisson Los Angeles Airport Hotel. The tournament was organized by Ankit Gupta, FA, IO.
The participants included: GM Robert Hess (USA), GM Melikset Khachiyan (USA), GM Dejan Bojkov (BUL), IM Andranik Matikozyan (ARM), IM Mackenzie Molner (USA), IM Roman Yankovsky (RUS), IM Levon Altounian (USA), IM Marc Arnold (USA), IM Enrico Sevillano (USA), and FM Alexandre Kretchetov (RUS). The tournament was a 10 player round-robin (all play all).The tournament was won by IM Enrico Sevillano – who also received his final GM norm, making him America’s newest GM-elect. FM Yian Liou and NM Samuel Sevian tied first for the Metropolitan Chess Inc Closed Chess Tournament. The tournament had two IM norms achieved by FM Yian Liou and NM Samuel Sevian. This completes Sevian's 2nd IM norm, and Liou's 1st.

The Metropolitan Chess, Inc. hosted an International Master norm round robin tournament from June 6-10. It was the 19th in a special series organized by the center in Suite C855 of the California Market Center on 110 East 9th Street, Los Angeles 90079. The tournament was organized by Ankit Gupta, FA, IO and the chief arbiter was Randy Hough, IA.
The participants included: IM Zhanibek Amanov (KAZ), IM Larry Remlinger (USA), IM Andranik Matikozyan (ARM),FM Victor Shen (USA), FM CJ Arvind (IND), FM Kayden Troff (USA), NM Arun Sharma (USA), NM Alexander King (USA), NM Samuel Sevian (USA) and NM Vadim Kudryavtsev (RUS).
The tournament was a 10 player round-robin (all play all), with rounds scheduled as follows – 6th: 7:00 PM, 7th: 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM, 8th: 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM, 9th: 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM, 10th: 10:00 AM & 4:00 PM. The tournament had three IM norms achieved by FM Victor Shen, NM Arun Sharma, and NM Samuel Sevian – all three also equal tied for first. This completes Shen’s 2nd IM norm, and Sharma and Sevian’s 1st.

The latest chess news update via www.chessdom.com is that this tournament is the 15th in its series and was held in Suite C1002 of the California Market Center on 110 East 9th Street, Los Angeles 90079. The tournament was organised by Ankit Gupta and the chief arbiter was Randy Hough.
The participants included: IM Zhanibek Amanov (KAZ), IM Andranik Matikozyan (ARM), IM Enrico Sevillano (USA), FM Harutyan Akopyan (USA), FM Mark Duckworth (USA), FM Konstantin Kavutskiy (USA), Vadim Kudryavtsev (RUS), Garush Manukyan (ARM), and NM Craig Clawitter (USA).
The tournament was won by IM Enrico Sevillano in a convincing fashion with a score of 7.5-1.5. No norms were achieved.
The only non-international master who was able to hold IM Sevillano to a draw, FM Konstantin Kavutskiy, came closest to an IM norm performance with a score of 5.5-3.5. 6.5 was necessary for the norm.
