Muscat: Navid Chaichi with a 4-0 score-line emerged champion for the second time at the Markaz Al Bhaja Chess tournament pushing Jose Luis Zarzudieta and Larry Pagtama to second and third place respectively. The Under-14 category chess event was held in a round robin format which was convincingly won by Sawad Samsuddin followed by Adithya V., and Thejas Sasikumar who took second and third place respectively.

In the Under-12 age group Abhinav Siddharth laid hi hands on the coveted title when beat Anirudh G. pushing him to second place while A. Diya Juyal took third place. In the Under-10 category K. Sai Vishwajith showed glimpses of his true attacking form that helped him to clinch top prize in under-10 ahead of Dhruvan G. and Pradyumna Shetty, who had to settle for second and third place respectively. Jijo Joy made it a great day by clinching the under-8 title. Jijo pushed Hari Chandan to second place while Shivani Shanmugavel won the third place. The next edition of the Markaz Al Bahja chess tournament will take place on April 26 and registration starts at 2.30 pm.
