Renaissance Chess Set from Austria - Video

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2013

Hello everyone,

We don't get enough of these theme chess sets and chess videos. So, here's a nice Renaissance chess set from Austria showcased in a video by "For a long time Austria has been the center of figurative chess sets. Here is an especially elegant Austrian design, created in casting stone. Note the unusually passive stance of the king, the madonna-like "virgin" queen, and the full portraits of unadorned horses in this set. A set that points to the Renaissance artistic ideals, and reveres nature as much as the society of men."
