e2e4 Torquay Chess Congress from Feb 8

Hi everyone,

The latest chess tournament news update via Fide is about the The e2e4 Torquay Congress will take place 8th-10th February 2013 at The Imperial Hotel, Park Hill Road, Torquay, Devon, TQ1 2DG.

The chess event in picturesque Torquay sees the The Imperial Hotel Torquay play host. n exclusive cliff top hotel, 4 star The Imperial is the perfect venue for an e2e4 Chess event. Overlooking the bay, this magnificent Victorian hotel offers stunning views across the Torbay coastline, and is ideally located for exploring the English Riviera.

The Imperial has great facilities including Beauty Rooms, Gym, Swimming Pool and Kid's Club so there is something for everyone.

We have 3 sections of chess too, with the Open and Major being FIDE rated. A great event in preparation for the 100th British Championships in Torquay later in 2013!

Playing ScheduleOpening Ceremony Friday 18.50 - 19.00
Round 1 Friday 19.00 - 23.00

Round 2 Saturday 10.00 - 14.00
Round 3 Saturday 15.00 - 19.00
Round 4 Sunday 10.00 - 14.00
Round 5 Sunday 15.00 - 19.00

Pairings
Pairings in all sections will be according to FIDE swiss pairing rules, using the Swiss Master computer program.

If more than 32 players participate in any section then accelerated pairings may be used for up to the first 3 rounds of that section, at the controller's discretion.

Time Control

All Sections : All moves in 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move increments from move 1
All games will be played using digital clocks.
Re-pairing may take place 30 minutes after the start of a round.
