Iran Chess Champions 2012: GM Asghar Golizadeh and WIM Mitra Hejazipour

The Iran Chess Championships 2012 concluded recently (December 7-15) with GM Asghar Goliadeh winning the men's section and WIM Mitra Hejazipour winning the women's section. The event was held at the Sistan & Baloochestan University in Zahedan. There were 31 players in the men's section with three GMs and three IMs. GM Asghar Golizadeh scored nine points over 11 rounds with just one loss to Amirreza Pourramezanali. IM Pouria Darini was in the running for the title, but lost the tenth round to GM Homayoon Tofighi. Fourteen-year-old Ahmad Asgarizadeh was third with a splendid elo performance of 2468. Ten-time Iran national champion GM GM Ehsan Ghaem Maghami lost three games and had to settle for the fifth place, according to Chessdom
