Someone, somewhere is falling in love with chess. How could we not share this chess news about a giant chess set being unveiled in Gloucestershire. The Nailsworth Men's Shed chess board was unveiled at Nailsworth Subscription Rooms, formerly the Boys Club, this week.
Lee Evans, who helped work on the project, with his son Joseph, five.
The first moves were also made in the inaugural game of chess while those who made it and civic dignitaries enjoyed mince pies and hot juice. The set is the first project of The Shed, set up by Nailsworth Community Workshop in the Subscription Rooms.
The giant board will be available for community use in the new garden, which was funded by Nailsworth Town Council at the top of Market Street.
We love community chess. If you have a community chess programme anywhere in the world, share it with Chess Blog readers.
