New Chess Tournament in Fujairah, UAE

Hi everyone,

We have news of an interesting new chess tournament in the United Arab Emirates and it's not in Dubai. The Fujairah Chess Club is hosting the Fujairah International Chess Championship 2012 with a Masters chess tournament and an open chess tournament for those with elo less than 2200.

The Fujairah Chess Tournament will be held from November 12 to 22. All chess players may be accepted, but in this case the participating players shall pay the accommodation expenses during the period of championship in United Arab Emirates in Fujairah City.

Entry Fee: GM, WGM and players rated above 2500 Free
Rated players 2301 To 2499 US $100
Rated players 2200 To 2300 US $150 (1 US$ = 3.67 AED)

Chess tournament venue
The Fujairah International Chess Championship 2012 will be held in Fujairah Exhibition Centre which is located in Korthabah Road, Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.

Tournament System: The Fujairah International Chess Championship 2012 will be played in 9 rounds according to the Swiss System. Time Control: 1 hour 30 minutes for the whole game with an incremental time of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1. It is not allowed to make draw agreement before 30 moves. The default time is 30 minutes after start of the round.

The Chief Arbiter will announce the daily program at the beginning of the tournament according to tournament schedule for the Fujairah International Chess Championship 2012.

Prizes: The Organizing Committee will grant the prizes total of which is US$ 50,500 for the "Masters Tournament" and AED 17,000 for the "Open Tournament". The personally invited Grandmasters with a rating of above 2600 (1/10/2012) Will be allocated free of charge in single room for the duration of Fujairah International Chess Championship "Masters Tournament" (12th – 22nd November 2012) ( there is limited number of rooms available, and the priority will be given to the earliest registered players.) The Fujairah Chess Club in cooperation with the UAE Chess Federation will arrange entry visa.

The Fujairah International Airport is the main port entry to Fujairah and there are two other international Airports (Sharjah & Dubai) which are centrally located with daily connections to major airports. Reception committee shall meet participants at these three airports to facilitate their entry formalities and escort them to their hotel.
