World Chess Championship 2012 - Anand Plays White in First Game

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2012

Hi everyone,

Are you keeping track of the World Chess Championship 2012 in Moscow at the official website? A nice video collage and that of the ceremony is now available at the official website.

During the opening ceremony held in the Mikhail Vrubel Hall, Russian and Indian anthems were played. Arkadij Dvorkovich and Irina Lebedeva, director of the playing hall, welcomed the guests. There were rapid photo shoots and a welcome speech by FIDE President Ilyumzhinov. Anand and Gelfand sat next to each other. Anand picked White for the first game. Later,
Denis Matsuev took the stage for a music performance.
