Hmmm, I don't know who the young man is, but I think the lady is Vera Menchik, who was one of the strongest female players in the world before she was killed in a bombing raid on London during World War II.

hi everyone, what's the joke aren't they both one of the most famous women chess players once? - sonja graf and vera menchik right? Guess the trivia question was asked because we have the women's world chess championship going on between koneru humpy and hou yifan?

Right is vera menchik - She won the first Women's World Championship in 1927 and successfully defended her title six times in every other championship in her lifetime, and only lost one game, while winning 78 and drawing four games.
Left is sonja graf - Sonja Graf (December 16, 1908 – March 6, 1965) was a German chess master who also lived in Argentina and the United States. She was the Women's World Vice-Champion, two-time winner of the U.S. Women's Chess Championship and author.
