Sweet chess photo: Keep playing chess, forget Alzheimer's

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hello everyone,

We found this article about new diagnostic guidelines for Alzheimer's. The article is not directly related to chess but has this beautiful photograph.

Roger Ferry, a member of the French chess federation, attends the French-Russian seniors chess tournament last year in the final round of a giant scientific experiment to see if intellectual activity can help prevent the onset of Alzheimer's disease. (Eric Gaillard/Reuters)

The article is about how new Alzheimer's guidelines in the U.S. reflect changes in understanding how the disease gradually develops. For the first time in nearly 30 years, the National Institute on Aging and the Alzheimer's Association released revised diagnostic criteria for the mind-robbing disease that affects 500,000 Canadians. You can read the article here.

For our part, we will still say the same thing: Keep playing chess, forget Alzheimer's.
