Russian Team Chess Championships: SHSM-64, Tomsk-400 tied for lead after eight rounds

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hi everyone,

Some more updates from the Russian Team Chess Championships: After eight rounds in the open section, Tomsk-400 and SHSM-64 are tied with 15 points each for the lead after eight rounds. SHSM-64 was trailing by just half a point and it did well to catch up in the eighth round. Even though GM Anish Giri lost to IM Dmitrij Sitnikov, SHSM-64 won all their other games.

In the women's section, after four rounds we have Giprorechtrans leading with 11.5 points with SHSM-RSCU just half a point behind. You can access the crosstables for the men's section here and the women's section here. There is a day off in the women's section on Wednesday. You can access the official website of the Russian Chess Federation here.

We bet you're following Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk playing Board 1 for the SHSM-RSCU (Moscow) team. So check out all her games played so far in the tournament at this link. Needless to add, the Chess Queen is top scorer with a 100% win performance.

For all those of you who joined us late, the Russian Club Championship is being held in the village of Olginka (Krasnodar Territory), Russia, from April 11 to 23. Stay tuned for updates, magic moves and great games from the event.

Time for some nice games. Enjoy. Watch out for some magic moves.
