IM Anna Zatonskih beat WIM Iryna Zenyuk in a bishop-and-pawn endgame. This helped her draw level with the leader of the tournament IM Irina Krush.

Nakamura and Shulman played the longest game of the tournament. After five and a half hours and 101 moves, they were down to just their kings.

Hi everyone,
The top three seeded chess players maintained their rankings in the US Chess Championships 2012 men's section with top seed GM Hikaru Nakamura staying ahead of the other chess players.
In the U.S. Women’s Chess Championship section, it was Irina Krush who has taken sole lead. Nakamura drew with Akobian. Defending champion Gata Kamsky stayed in second spot with a draw with Yury Shulman.
Meanwhile, in the women's section of the US Chess Championships, IM Irina Krush beat WGM Tatev Abrahamyan to take sole lead in the premier chess event.

Exciting things were happening in the third round at the US Chess Championships 2012. The top two rated players pulled ahead of the group with fine wins. Top seed GM Hikaru Nakamura and defending champion GM Gata Kamsky are in joint lead with 2.5/3.

The standings after Round 3 have Nakamura and Kamsky with 2.5, Kaidanov, Lenderman, and Shulman with 2.0, Onischuk, Hess, and Akobian at 1.5, Ramirez and Stripunsky at 1.0, Robson at 0.5 and Seirawan yet to open score.
