Chess Queen's precious chess suitcase now in Russia's 1st Chess Museum in Moscow
Hello chess friends, you've got a very chess reason to visit Moscow now! The first Russian Museum of Chess has opened. In Moscow, on September 25, a grand ceremony was attended by FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and other dignitaries.
The Fide website states, "The basic collection of the new Museum includes rare chess sets of different cultures and eras. Collection consists of personal belongings of the great Grandmasters: Mikhail Chigorin, Alexander Alekhine, Mikhail Botvinnik, Tigran Petrossian: old books, posters, paintings, gifts of chess fans and celebrity guests, trophies of the Soviet and Russian Champions. It also has on display rare chess sets of the 17th-21st centuries, including the artworks of world level, some of them the envy of the big art museums.
"Masterpieces made of ivory and ebony are there, side by side with strict cardboard chess of besieged Leningrad, the bent wire made Gulag chess, simple chocolate-beige plastic of a space chess set: the one used for the first in the history game of the crew of Soyuz-9 in Space-to-Earth chess game. The Museum exhibits show how deeply chess is rooted in the World and Russian culture. The history of chess reflects heroic and tragic pages of the history of Russia."

12th Women's World Chess Champion Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk giving her precious chess suitcase to the museum. Her father Konstantin Kosteniuk had given it to her in 1990 with the message: "To Sasha, the future world champion in chess !!!" GM Kosteniuk went on to win the world title in 2008.

Yes, pretty girls play very strong chess, but once in a while you cannot help suspect that a killer chess 'gentleman' would allow a pretty girl to 'escape' with a draw? Maybe! Maybe, not!
Kuka Monster spent a recent winter evening in a night club in Moscow - playing chess with Pavel Eljanov and Alina Kashlinskaya. The guests watching closely included Russian national chess team coach Yuri Dokhoyan.
The special chess event was titled 'Mind Games' and included three hours of chess in the blitz format between Alina, Eljanov and Kashlinskaya. The highlight of the event was world chess robot champion Kuka Monster taking on Eljanov and Kashlinskaya in separate games.
Eljamov sacrificed a pawn and lost the chess endgame to Kuka Monster. Kashlinskaya managed to bravely hold Kuka Monster to a draw in a perpetual check after a series of sacrifices. Yes, Alina Kashlinskaya is a strong chess player from Russia, but we couldn't help speculating: Did Kuka Monster flirt with her? Replay the game and decide for yourself. (It was a 5:0 Blitz)
One-Million-Rouble Chess Match: Sergey Karjakin vs Chess Robot ChessKa

Human versus Chess Robot: This is as big as it gets! One of the strongest chess players in the world Sergey Karjakin will take on chess robot ChessKa for a prize-money of one million rubles.
The Blitz Chess Championships 2013 for Chess Playing Robots and a unique match between Russian Grandmaster Sergey Karjakin and chess robot ChessKa (aka Chess Terminator) will be held during 'Metalworking 2013' at the Exhibition Center in Moscow from May 27-27. Karjakin stands to win one million roubles if he beats the 'machine'.
Considering Mr ChessKa would not be getting tired so, in addition, kids from ages 6 to 10 in three age categories will also play with the robot. The providers of the event invite all young chess enthusiasts to compete with the robot and receive prizes. To apply for competition entry: chessrobot@yandex.ru.

This special chess news post is for all humans (and bots) about the World Chess Blitz Championship among Chess Robots that will take place on May 19 (12pm – 17pm Moscow time). This incredible World Chess Blitz event will be held on the Strastnoy Bulvar. Two robots will fight for the title of the World Robot Blitz Chess Champion.
The first is called ChessKA and is the creation of Konstantin Kosteniuk, honored chess coach of the Russian Federation, who is an active inventor and has dozens of registered patents.
ChessKA is the first chess playing robot who has beaten top human players on a real chess board in blitz (5 minutes per game). This ChessKA is already well-known among chess amateurs for its chess games against Vladimir Kramnik, Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk, Sergey Karjakin and some other well-known grandmasters. Those battles between human and robotics chess players were quite hard for the humans, whose best ability was to make a draw!
KUKA Monster
The other robot, KUKA Monster, was constructed just a short time ago by engineers of one of the greatest industrial robots building corporation -- KUKA Robotics.
They decided to challenge the Russian invention, because blitz chess is considered as an excellent test for intellect, accuracy and speed of their production. Some other producers of industrial robots have shown an interest in creating chess playing robots too, like FANUC (Japan) and ABB (Sweden).
The games will be played according to FIDE rules with time limit 5 minutes for each participant. A total of 10 chess games will be played and the winner will be proclaimed the First Absolute World Chess Blitz Champion.
The organizers are planning to make such event annual and hope for interest of industrial robots corporations in creating of ChessRoboLeague like Formula One for car producers.
Also an exhibition blitz match will be played between KUKA MONSTER and Alexander Grischuk, former World Blitz Chess Champion and one of the best Russian and world chess players.
The event is organized by: Russian Chess Federation, Center of physical culture and sports of the Central District of Moscow, “Tigran Petrosian” Chess Club, collaborating with the Foundation for Support of Chess Creativity, Dvorkovich Chess Lounge, Chess Queen, and Chess King chess software.
We will soon know who is the best and fastest chess playing robot in the world!
