Time for some chess fun with a nice YouTube video. K-9 Plays Chess with the Doctor in The Sunmakers (Part 1).

K-9 is the name of several fictional robotic canines (the name being a pun on that word) in the long-running British science fiction television series, Doctor Who, first appearing in 1977. K-9 has also been a central character in three of the series television spin-offs: the one-off K-9 and Company (1981), The Sarah Jane Adventures (2007–2011) and K-9 (2009–2010).

Funny Chess Story: Man Suspected of Kidnapping While Playing Online

Hi everyone,

This is a funny chess story going around on the Internet. We found the English version at Chess Vibes. The German police arrested a man when one of his neighbors reported that he was shouting at someone in his apartment about not letting them escape. Supposedly this 60-year-old gentleman was shouting stuff like: You won't get out of here!

The incident happened in Lorräch, Germany. The chess player opened the door of his apartment quite surprised when the police landed up. Apparently he had been playing chess online and shouting at his virtual opponent. He told the officers that he wasn't keeping a prisoner but that he was a passionate chess player, involved in a chess game online.

The news has been picked up by a host of news sources like Südkurier, Neckar-Chronik, Op-Online andTV-Südbaden. It was also picked up by e.g. the major Dutch news site nu.nl and the biggest Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

There are those two 'audience' reactions to a chess game - 1) they are just going on and on and nothing is happening 2) Oh god it's mad, its crazy, it's all energy, turbo-charged!!! Well, here are two morph-suited chess players. Don't miss the doggy who comes around a second time to take a peek and you can almost hear him say, "Oh! Dang, they're still at it" and disappear quickly. Enjoy.
