Hello everyone,

Here is the organisers' update on the Anand vs Carlsen World Chess Championship 2013 for November 7 - opening-ceremony day: Fide, India Chess Federation and Hyatt Regency Chennai are conducting final preparation for the FIDE World Chess Championship Match between Viswanathan Anand and Magnus Carlsen.

The playing room and spectators area are being arranged and the soundproof glass has been installed. The technical meeting and press conference should take place on Thursday afternoon at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Anna Salai, Chennai. Both the players, World Champion Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand and his challenger World No.1, Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen shall be present on the occasion and hold a press conference. The opening ceremony will take place a few hours later at the Nehru Indoor Stadium. (Left; photo of the chess piece at the entrance)

There is great enthusiasm for the Viswanathan Anand versus Magnus Carlsen World Chess Championship 2013 taking place in Chennai. The opening ceremony takes place on Thursday, November 7, and the first game will be played on Saturday, November 9.
