Gregory Young has become the US Junior Chess Champion for 2011. He won the title with a round to spare at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis Saturday. Young wins $3,000 and receives an invitation to the 2012 U.S. Chess Championship at the very same venue. Hi everyone,

The US Junior Chess Championship has begin in Saint Louis. There were four wins and one draw in the first round among the top young players under-21 in the US.

NM Gregory Young (2384) beat NM Raven Sturt (2375); FM John Bryant (2486) won against FM Victor Shen (2435); NM Jialin Ding (2233) lost to FM Warren Harper (2412) and FM Alec Getz (2398) won against NM Kayden Troff (2345) - the youngest in the field at 13.
