Mumbai Mayor's Chess Cup R10: Aleksandrov extends lead to full point, needs draw for clear first in last round

Hi everyone,


Here is the chess news update from the Mumbai Mayor's Cup Chess Tournament. Belarussian Grandmaster Aleksej Aleksandrov has extended his lead to a full point after 10 rounds. He beat India's M S Thejkumar in the penultimate round. Aleksandrov needs just a draw in the last round to win the title. GM Martyn Kravtsiv of Ukraine is at second place with eight points. He beat GM Marat Dhumaev. Seven players are tied at the third spot with 7.5 points each going into the final day.

Mayor's Chess Cup R8: Aleksandrov leads with 7 points

Hi everyone,

The chess news 4th Mayor's Cup International Chess Tournament currently on in Mumbai is that top seed Aleksej Aleksandrov of Belarus keeps the sole lead with seven points after the eighth round on Wednesday. Grandmaster Aleksandrov (ELO 2618) drew with GM Martyn Kravtsiv (ELO 2538). 



Around 17 GMs and 30 International Masters and women GMs from 10 countries including seven from India are competing in the event. Russian GM Maxim Turov, with a rating of 2643, is the top seed in the the tournament.
