Rockford Chess Schools' Challenge Results Announced

Hi everyone,
 
ROCKFORD — On Nov. 10, 134 students from 29 schools competed at the Fall 2012 Rockford Chess Challenge at Washington Academy, 1421 West St., Rockford.

First place individual winners are as follows: kindergarten, Sawyer Mundell; first grade, Kamaleshkumar Sureshkumar; second grade, Jack Wasilewski, third grade, Dylan Gibson; fourth grade, tie between Mylz Foreman and Chris Park; fifth grade, Sengdao Inthavong; sixth grade, Vincent Do; seventh grade, Sofia Dunn; and eighth grade, Steven Do.

Special awards included Best Unrated Player and Biggest Upset. Best Unrated Players awards went to: kindergarten, Mundell; first grade, Rishi Kopparam; second grade, Joshua Spender; third grade, Nolan Brauns; fourth grade, Daniel Strohman; fifth grade, Markayla Box; sixth grade, Zack Noone; seventh grade, Garret McDonald; and eighth grade, Austin Rucker. Biggest Upset awards went to: first grade, Sureshkumar; second grade, Blake Johnson; third grade, Spencer Kang; fourth grade, Emmet Finn; fifth grade, Jack Hensley; sixth grade, Samuel Baule; and seventh grade, Theresa Weiss.
