ACP Women's Chess Cup begins today

Hi everyone,


Get set for the chess cheering mode. Your favourite Grandmaster Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk is going to play in the ACP Women's Chess Tournament beginning today in Tbilisi, Georgia. There are 12 participants in the super tournament representing nine countries:
Russia (3),Georgia (2), Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Slovenia, Sweden,Ukraine,USA.
The tournament has three women world chess champions: 

  • Maia Chiburdanidze - 5- time Champion (1978, 1981, 1984, 1986, 1988;) 
  • Antoaneta Stefanova - Women’s World Chess Champion (2004 – 2006)
  • Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk - Women’s World Chess Champion (2008-2010) 
6 European Champions:
  • Victoria Cmilyte - Actual Champion (Tbilisi 2011) 
  • Pia Cramling - 2- time Champion ( 2003, 2010) 
  • Kateryna Lahno - 2- time Champion ( 2005, 2008)

Tournament Regulations The tournament will be held in 'Sheraton Metekhi Palace Hotel ' from 17 - 22 February 2012.

II Tournament System
ACP Women Cup will be a Round Robin tournament with the twelve participants we just introduced to you.

Games will be played with the following time control: 20 minutes each at the start of the game with an increment of 5 seconds per move from move 1. Default time is not 0 minutes; zero tolerance rule will not be in place.

In case of tie for the first place, a tie-break will be played to determine a winner.

The total prize fund of the event amounts to USD 40,000.
Games will be played under the current FIDE Rules for rapid chess.
For tie-break, the FIDE Rules for blitz chess are applied.
