Baia Mare Chess Open in Romania from Sept 5

Hi everyone,

The latest chess news from Fide is that the Baia Mare Chess Open is going to be held from September 5-11. Currently 59 players are signed to participate with 8 Grandmasters in the field. Top seed is GM Gergely Szabo.

Baia Mare is a municipality in northwestern Romania and the capital of Maramureş County. The city is situated about 600 kilometres from Bucharest, the capital of Romania, 70 kilometres from the border with Hungary and 50 kilometres from the border with Ukraine. According to the 2002 census, the city population is 137,921.
