3D chess light-hearted rendition

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hi everyone,

Four years ago, the students at Queen Charlotte College inspired Jann Hook to enter the World of Wearable Arts competition. Four successful entries later, it's now her turn, as the co-ordinator of the school's Wearable Designz show, to inspire them.
"I thought if they can do it so can I," she says of her decision to try creating wearable art.

"I've had four garments accepted. The first one you think maybe it's a fluke, but after three and then four you think maybe I do have some talent." The Te Mahia resort co-owner says she tries to use recycled materials in her creations.

Photo: "It's a light hearted rendition of a 3D chess game in motion. I woke up at 3am one morning with the concept of a walking 3D chess game and it evolved from there. The addition of the Pawn Queen came later as the original garment evolved. I wanted to enhance the interplay and bring the game of chess alive in an off the wall type of way.

Funky. You can read further about her here.
