Hello everybody,

If you are right now in the Russian city of Samara then you can visit the Lev Polugaevsky Chess Memorial Tournament that is taking place there from July 5-13. It is a nine-round Swiss format tournament with a total prize fund of Euros 11300. It is also a qualifier for the 2011 Russian Cup. The tournament has top-rated grandmasters including Denis Khismatullin, Alexander Lastin, Aleksej Aleksandrov and Sergey Volkov among others. After six rounds, we have GM Pavel Smirnov and GM Semen Dvoirys in joint lead. Smirnov began with five straight wins before drawing his sixth round game with IM Jakov Geller.
