A chess puzzle to thrill you

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hi everyone,

Here is a nice chess position from the game Spraggett-Speelman, Hastings, 1989/90. It is White to move. In the game, Spraggett played 1.Nxg3 fxg3 2.Rxh7+ Qxh7 3.Qxh7+ Kxh7 4.Rxf7 and even ended up in a drawn game. But can you figure out what White missed? You can run the flashplayers after your thinking time. We've put two different variations in two different boards. The answer will thrill you Enjoy.
